This is an older boat, with original paint. No leaks. transoms have been completely re-done.  Lots of TLC went into refurbishing this boat.  Very well balanced helm, and the boat sails very well, especialy in light winds.  Not recommended for big waves and wind, but perfect for a crew weight up to 170 lbs (more weight less performance} in wind up to the point where there are whitecaps.

HOBIE 16s:
A free Basic Guide for buying Hobies in the Philippines: The price range is enormous.P 100K TO 800K for a new Hobie 16.
For Hobie cat pricing,  think of P100k as very low. This will get you an old boat that is ready to fall apart in heavy air. It’s basically a parts boat that sails.  You are paying $1000 for the aluminum mast, and another $1000 for everything else.  This is because of the realities of shipping and Philipoine taxes.

For a boat that is possibly structurally sound, but with dodgy sails and trampoline, you are looking at P150k
With ok sails, trampoline, P200 -250k
P300,000 will get you a pretty good boat. Good enough for Local racing.
P350-450k – Can stand up to multiple capsize and recovery in 30 kts plus.
P450- 550K you get a boat that can do the Hobie Challenge. Will survive 40 to 50Kts. Even if that is mostly upside down in breaking seas.
P600K+ almost new

“Laser Escape” P99K

This boat is an old Laser hull that has been rebuilt with a stronger reinforced deck. The hull is heavier as a result,  it is a bit slower to respond, but it is also more forgiving. The rig is from an Escape. It has a strong fiberglass mast, with a sail that is slightly smaller than the standard laser sail.  The rudder assembly is from Hobie parts that are easy to find locally, unlike Laser parts that are almost impossible to source. The boat is ok for beginners, and should last a long time.

TLYC is selling the whole topper fleet. except for 1 or 2 boats which have been graciously purchased by members, and donated back to the club to the club’s Learn to sail program.

Good for kids or adults. The choice of many clubs schools, and international sailing associations as their “Kids Learn to sail” boat.  I have yet to find a safer kids boat. Action: Hot welded the crack, and covered with leak tape. Its fixed.
-Original problem: mast step area damaged by mast that popped out of the step. Step side was holed. Boat leaked. Action: Patched with 655. Leak fixed with Gfex 655.

TRAMPOLINES: we have a LOT of old trampolines with different levels of deterioration. Many not listed here.  Trampolines are either mesh or solid. The mesh ones usualky stretch more. You cannot use “trapal” as a trampoline. Its not strong enough, and it stretches too much. You CAN  use trapal over an old hobie trampoline.  We do have a few tramps that are almost new, or still ok.
